Movie Review: Subedar Joginder Singh | Box Office

When we watched the trailer of this flick we all are saying its similar to Bollywood Blockbuster Movie Border. Border stood fort for being the best multi-starrer war movie which had just about every ingredient of a successful film. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Punjabi movie Subedar Joginder Singh stands to share the same status. The film is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Subedar Joginder Singh and his battalion of 20 men who held the position in defiance of an entire 600-man contingent of Chinese forces in the Sino-Indian war of 1962.

Produced by Sumeet Singh and directed by Simerjit Singh, the film is going to etch a place for itself in the history of Punjabi cinema. Despite the fact that Subedar Joginder Singh stars half a dozen of well-known Punjabi singer-actors, director Simerjit has only made each one look like a fauj da sipahi by stealing their real identities with such finesse that you totally forget that the artiste on screen has sung an XYZ hit song!irector Simerjit Singh has, in the typical manner of Indian war films, shown both the professional and personal life of Joginder Singh. He has interspaced the war-time life of the Subedar with incidences that mainly relate to his marriage with Gurdyal Kaur Banga (Aditi Singh). The fact that the filmmaker has introduced a good dose of innocent humour in the film in both the army and in civilian life is commendable, although the effort does seems a bit naive and even stretched at times.

There are glimpses of the Subedar’s previous skirmishes during the Second World War which establish some sort of scale. However, the final fight at Bamula leaves much to be desired. The fact that the true story of the men in question is so incredible that translating it on screen, as 20 or more men take on 600 heavily armed soldiers, may seem overdone

The film has been shot in locations like Kargil, Drass, Rajasthan, which brings out the realness of the film. Punjabi films and comedy, it’s like brother from another mother, and in this film, comedy does find a place and that too in a measured manner. Faujis are expected to humour themselves, aren’t they?

If we will talk about its first day collection
Subedar Joginder Singh grab the Audience Attention as the film managed to collect a mere Rs 57,00,000 approx in East Punjab region on Day 1.
